YSpa ... our midweek slice of luxury

Wedding season has clearly taken their toll on both Sarah and I - when we heard about the amazing Spa offers at YSpa, we literally cleared our diaries and shot up the A1 quicker than Lewis Hamilton.

YSpa is conveniently located within Wyboston Lakes Hotel on the Wyboston Lakes estate, midway between Cambridge and Milton Keynes. On arrival we were ushered into the cafe and offered fresh hibiscus tea, from there we were given a quick tour of the spa and all the facilities.

With our swimming costumes, robes and fluffy slippers on we were ready for a morning of ultimate relaxation. First off, we decided to opt for a quick dip in the outdoor hydrotherapy pool. Not being the warmest of days, we sprinted into the pool and spent the next hour immersed in relaxing jets of warm water and basked in the last of the autumn sunshine. Absolute heaven.

Exhausted from our sprint to and from the pool we headed to the Time Out Area where body-heated water beds awaited us and a late morning snooze was in order. Feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and well and truly on cloud-nine, we decided it was time for lunch.

The Demi Spa package includes a two-course buffet meal in the hotel restaurant which is a short walk from the spa area. We were very impressed with the quality and range of food on offer including fresh poached salmon, a huge range of salads, grilled fish and a delicious cottage pie. The Sticky Toffee pudding went down a treat (we had worked up quite an appetite after all).

After lunch we headed outdoors and enjoyed a coffee outside the Alpine themed chalets - complete with log fire and blankets. We then had a quick blast in the Softy and Salty Saunas before it was time to shower and sadly head back to reality!

All in all, this is a superb, well-maintained spa facility offering exceptional customer service and care.  Although we didn't sample any of the beauty and holistic treatments, the therapy rooms looked luxurious and extremely inviting - we will definitely be back.
